Laxreal, the Guardian Lich and Advisor to Drake Taldrit in the LitRPG series called The Empires Rise by Quintin Porter, commands death on one hand while giving advice for the living on another. His history is led astray from his early days as a human sorcerer when a ritual of turning him into a Lich runs awry; finding himself as a skeleton and having lost his memories, he learns to cast spells and finally is summoned to the settlement of Caelnova where he meets Drake. During another ritual, with the unknown help of the settlers, Laxreal becomes a guardian and advisor while gaining the memories of both his living and dead sides. Guarding the settlement that is his very life, Laxreal can dominate the corpses of those who have perished.
